Once again the meeting went well. We are hoping that we can continue to meet and continue to discuss and learn principles that effect our lives. I still have a few more copies of The Making of America if anyone wants one.

I have added a link to a new Blog it is on the left hand side of the page called "book colloquy. This new blog will allow you to discuss what we have read or what you are reading with others. If you have a book you would like to add to this let me know. I will be adding several books that I have read. This should be a good opportunity to discuss books and leave your comments about what you may have learned or would like to learn from the colloquium.

If you are interested in Purchasing. The Real George Washington, The Real Thomas Jefferson, The Real Benjamin Franklin and The Making of America let me know. I can get "seconds" for an excellent price right now. These are books that we will be using in future discussion. Let me know if you want them.

I would like to thank everyone who joined us for the meeting Friday night. I was really excited to have everyone involved in the conversation and sharing your knowledge. I hope everyone went away knowing more than when they started, I know I did. I have had a few people ask about doing the same class next week. My daughter has volunteered to babysit for free so those who missed last nights meeting can attend the next one. I am thinking of doing it next Thursday. If you came last night you are welcome to come next week also. I will only do this if we have enough interest. Keep checking the blog for updated information.

I appreciate everyone who showed up for the first Colloquium. I hope everyone is inspired to read the Fourth Turning and continue learning about our great country and heritage. Please share what you learned with your friends and family and invite them to join us next month. I realized after the meeting that we had someone from each generation represented. It should be an interesting conversation next month. I could use some feedback about how the discussion went so I can continue to serve you better. There has been some interest in hearing more history, if you are interested in this let me know. Any ideas for how I can improve the group will be appreciated. Thanks again.

The Fourth Turning

Next months book will be the Fourth Turning, William Strauss and Neil Howe. The Fourth Turning is an historical look at the cycles of history. It talks about how history effects the generations and the generations repeat history. It is an interesting look at how we as citizens can be aware of what we do can effect the future and what has happened can effect us. I hope every one enjoys it. I have posted a link to help you find and purchase the book.

First meeting

We are excited about our first meeting on the 27th. I hope everyone is finding the time to complete their readings. Remember to share what you learn with your friends, neighbors and especially your children. We have sold all 16 copies of the 5000 year leap books that we had available and will most likely be ordering a few more for those who still want to get them for $6.
If you still need a book let me know as soon as possible so I can get them ordered in time for you to read it. You will also want to start looking at getting the books for the next month. I have provided quick links to purchase them. Don't be afraid to try to find them cheaper somewhere else. Let me know if the blog is useful and if you have any suggestions for it tell me.
